      Description of problem:

When adding a hot plug disk to a VM, the Source shows as Other rather than the backing PVC. This makes it difficult to identify the PVC name from the UI and requires the user to check the YAML definition to confirm the PVC name for various operations such as expanding the disk.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

      OCP 4.17.12 and CNV 4.17.5

      How reproducible:

      100%

      Steps to Reproduce:

      1. Create a new VM and ensure it's in a Running state.
      2. Select the Configuration Tab -> then Storage
      3. Click Add Disk
      4. Select Empty disk (blank)
      5. Populate relevant details such as Name, Disk Size and set Type to Disk and select appropriate StorageClass for the cluster. Since VM is running Interface should be set to SCSI and greyed out automatically.
      6. Click Save
      7. Check the UI and see the new disk was added, however it does not display the associated PVC details.

      Actual results:

New disk shows Source as Other and Size as "-"

      Expected results:

New disk should show the source PVC backing the hot plug disk as well as the proper size of the PVC.

      Additional info:

I've added 2 screenshots. The 1st shows the VM's storage configuration after adding the app-data-1 hot plug disk -- showing Source as Other and Size as "-".

For comparison, I added a 2nd screenshot displaying how the UI displays a disk that's added when the VM is stopped, this is the app-data-2 disk. I followed the same steps to add this disk, the only difference is that the VM was stopped. This illustrates how the UI presents different information for the disks based on if they were hot added or not.

As an additional note, converting the app-data-1 hot plug disk to a persistent disk did not change any of the information displayed -- it just removed the "Persistent Hotplug" label next to the disk name. I added a 3rd screenshot to show this as well.
