Goal
In RHV there is the option to protect a virtual machine from deletion by selecting the "Delete Protection" option in Edit Virtual Machine.
Enabling this option disables the deletion of the virtual machine. (The Remove option is ghosted/disabled). Only by disabling this option will allow the VM to be deleted.
User Stories
- As a VM owner, I like to enable the delete protection for my pet VM, so that it will be harder to delete the VM without intention, e.g. by a typo in my ansible playbook.
Non-Requirements
- This epic is about delete protection for VMs, delete protection for all kinds of kubernets objects is not the focus of the epic. This is tracked in https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/issues/10179 and implemented in https://github.com/majeinfo/k8s-delete-protection .
