Description of problem:
While working on adding a snapshot creation time metric, I notice that in The UI the snapshot is deleted by default when you delete a vm- which is not recommended by storage team, and there is not an option to change that (see screenshot)
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
not sure when this behavior started but now it's 4.17.
How reproducible:
100%
Steps to Reproduce:
1. create a vm1 2. create a snapshot of vm1 3. delete vm1 4. see that also the snapshot was deleted
Actual results:
Snapshot is deleted by default when a vm is deleted and there is no checkbox to change that.
Expected results:
Snapshot should not be deleted by default when you delete a vm, only if the user check the box(need to add new box for delete vm snapshot. I suggest to call the new box *Confirm Deletion of All VM Snapshots* and do not check this box by default.
Additional info:
I'm adding the thread I talked about it with storage team: https://redhat-internal.slack.com/archives/C01B610HL81/p1725456527586159 skagan Wednesday at 4:46 PM Its not supposed to delete the vmsnapshots skagan Wednesday at 4:47 PM unless the UI is doing something they are not supposed to.. alitman Wednesday at 5:16 PM so it does delete it in the UI, it's also mentioned as a warning. thanks a lot skagan Wednesday at 5:36 PM I dont think we want this kind of behavior from the UI, especially when there is no way to cancel this behavior. @alitke@mhenriks WDYT? mhenriks Wednesday at 5:39 PM Yeah to me this behavior should not be the default. Maybe another checkbox
