      Description of problem:

When creating 100s of DV clones using ODF w/ the default csi-cloning method, clone performance can stall considerably, potentially taking many hours to complete. This is due to some flattening limitations in ODF and it is strongly recommend to use a VolumeSnapshot cloning method for this type of scale. Virt docs should clearly state this recommendation when using ODF.

Suggested draft text (has been reviewed by CNV & ODF Eng): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_I5ayeVHtvP5Has1dpdGNkpPOUESZL0Gb-IfSi6O8sE/edit

Virt Docs do briefly touch on VolumeSnapshots but it should be made into a much stronger recommendation when using ODF specifically: https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.16/virt/virtual_machines/creating_vms_custom/virt-creating-vms-by-cloning-pvcs.html#virt-cloning-pvc-to-dv-cli_virt-creating-vms-by-cloning-pvcs

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

      All supported 4.x

      How reproducible:

Issues w/ default csi-clone observed many times for >100 clones

Once the docs clearly state this ODF limitation & recommendation, the related known issue can be removed: https://issues.redhat.com/browse/CNV-23501
