We're currently working to enable hotplug by default. However instancetypes are incompatible with hotplug. This would lead to instancetypes being unusable.

We need to double check why instancetypes are not compatible (it could be an older API issue that is now resolved). One suggestion is that if instancetypes cannot work with hotplug, that hotplug would be disabled when isntancetypes are used.
