enable the feature in 4.14 (if the feature is in beta in 1.27 it should be enabled by default)

we should:

• understand the feature
• get familiar with the chages
• get involved upstream, follow the progression to beta/alpha, contribute if possible

This will help us accumulate knowledge so we are equipped in case of customer escalation/cases
