Value Statement

The current Gatekeeper operator is v3.6, which is very old. To give value to the customer while we investigate a path forward for rewriting the current operator to something simpler, let's update the current Gatekeeper operator. We already downstream the v3.11 Gatekeeper image so we can now upgrade the operator to utilize those images along with updating the manifests (i.e. CRDs, Deployment, and etc) that the operator deploys to match v3.11.

Definition of Done for Engineering Story Owner (Checklist)

• The Gatekeeper operator version and channel is bumped to match the Gatekeeper version it is deploying. In this case, v3.11.
• The Gatekeeper operator utilizes the already downstream v3.11 Gatekeeper image.
• The Gatekeeper operator has its manifests such as CRDs updated to match upstream v3.11 along with Red Hat specific modifications.
• Upgrading from v3.6 to v3.11 is tested. Special care should be taken to examine the upstream Helm chart to see if there are any special migration steps we need to take into account.
• Update the Gatekeeper operator installation stable (not community) policy in the policy-collection repo and in the console.

• The code is complete.
• Functionality is working.
• Any required downstream Docker file changes are made.
