The installer QE automation is written in Ansible, and while it works well for what it does, it's not really designed for functional test cases, and with the move away from Ansible Tower, we lost the ability for Junit reporting metrics. Other programming languages, such as Python, provide a more robust framework for testing, logging, and reporting. We should explorer the effort to move the automation off of Ansible.
