ACM-2221 - RHACM on cloud infra (ROSA/AWS/ARO/Azure) deploying on premises bare metal clusters
-
QE Sprint 2023-04
Epic Goal
As an OpenShift hub cluster / ACM administrator, I want to deploy bare metal clusters from a hub cluster running on ROSA or AWS.
Acceptance Criteria
- Bare metal worker nodes can be deployed from a hub cluster running ACM in the Central Infrastructure Management workflow as a day 2 operation from ROSA.
- It is possible to interact with the Metal3 BaremetalHost API to provision baremetal hosts from a non-baremetal controlplane
- CI - MUST be running successfully with tests automated
- Release Technical Enablement - Provide necessary release enablement details and documents.
Notes
- The Cluster Baremetal Operator is available when deploying a OpeShift cluster on the OpenStack, vSphere, and "none" platforms.
- METAL-300 enables AWS too, starting in 4.12.
- We need details of the AWS setup with VPCs.
- The team at American Family offered to set it up (rnix@redhat.com) and will provide more insights and findings.
- Verifying it will require access (via a dedicated VPC) between AWS and the Red Hat infra with bare metal nodes.
