      Feature Overview

In ACM GUI, for the OpenShift Virtualization HCP cluster, we have a direct option to configure the Etcd storage class, where we can set the storage class for Etcd easily during the cluster creation process without manual intervention. However, in the BareMetal HCP Cluster, ACM GUI does not provide an option to set the Etcd storage class, and we need to manually define and apply the storage class settings in the cluster's YAML configuration.

      Goals

      • It's basically for user experience.
      • As per best practices of hosted control plane, lvm storage is preferred but in BM Hosted cluster creation specifying an etcd storage class is not an option on form view unlike OSV hosted cluster so customers will not remember to edit yaml and add etcd storage class. This will result in HCP BM that does not adhere to best practices. Also, experience for both virtualised and bare metal hosted cluster creation should be similar.

      Requirements

      • To be able to set the 'Etcd storage class' for baremetal HCP Clusters from the ACM GUI.
