Background

The Ansible provider repo has a stable-1.0 branch, but this has not been used since the 1.0 release. This branch should be renamed to stable-1 to align with how we name branches on other repos. We also need to backport changes from the main branch to the stable-1 branch in preparation for a new 1.x release.

Definition of Done

• the stable-1.0 branch has been renamed to stable-1
• the stable-1 branch is up to date with the main branch
