Orphaned (or “dead”) Receptor work units may accumulate when jobs fail or enter an error state due to connectivity issues or other failures on the controller or execution nodes. Over time, the presence of these orphaned work units can negatively impact the overall performance and stability of the Ansible Automation Platform (AAP).

The customer has requested an enhancement to AAP that enables the automated and periodic cleanup of orphaned work units. This capability would help maintain system performance while avoiding disruption to the production environment, such as service restarts or manual removal of work units.
