- What is the nature and description of the request?
If I want to create an email notifier for AAP, it is not possible because it only allow for basic Auth. Basic auth is a deprecated protocol and is blocked by Azure.
AAP should implement a suitable solution as per KCS : https://access.redhat.com/solutions/6981478
- Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)
Our goal is to receive emails for template success /failures. Our email provider is azure Exchange Online. That would be SMTP over Oauth2, as described here :
Exchange Online to retire Basic auth for Client Submission (SMTP AUTH) | Microsoft Community Hub<https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/blog/exchange/exchange-online-to-retire-basic-auth-for-client-submission-smtp-auth/4114750>
Authenticate an IMAP, POP or SMTP connection using OAuth | Microsoft Learn<https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/client-developer/legacy-protocols/how-to-authenticate-an-imap-pop-smtp-application-by-using-oauth>
timeline dependencies:
Not especially, but Microsoft will retire Basic Auth for SMTP in september 2025, after this date it won't be possible to send emails through identifiers.
