The original RFE requested the capability in OCP via the operator but I'm broadening this out into a platform feature which would cover all deployment types as there is a lot of demand (see linked issues for other duplicate requests with many support cases attached).
For the operator in particular, this is the scenario:
- What is the nature and description of the request?
AAP deployed on OCP as an operator does not have an option to stop the necessary services to perform some of the maintenance activities.
Scenario:
AAP 2.5 is managed by Openshift operator. The external Postgresdb is provided by a dedicated database server. Can not shut down AAP 2.5 application (including gateway, controller, hub, and eda) to allow maintenance of the external Postgresdb.
- Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)
To perform maintenance activities
- How would you like to achieve this? (List the functional requirements here)
By having an option to put AAP in maintenance mode.
- List any affected known dependencies: Doc, UI etc..
AAP operator
Other deployment types (containerized) need to have similar functionality and act in the same manner to provide the same operational capabilities.
