Ansible Automation Platform customers are predominately made up of virtual or physical based installations of the platform. This means that for these customers to be able to work with Execution Environments a container image registry needs to be present within the installed platform.

Customers with existing container registries such as Quay, Docker or OpenShift Registry may NOT wish to store Execution Environment images within these registries. Though it should be noted that later in this document we discuss supporting these image registries as an option for customers.

Summary

Execution Environments require a container image registry for storage and serving, Ansible Automation Platform 1.2 does not have the ability to serve or store container images.
