    Description

What problem/issue/behavior are you having trouble with? What do you expect to see?

Kibana Discover GUI screen shows the first timestamp for a log that has multiple instances/entries and by default aggregates all these entries across multiple weeks and months. Customer would like the ability to shorten the log entry aggregation time range to a few seconds or to a few days at most. This will allow customer to have more granular control over their logging and alerting visualization.

Please can we add a feature to Kibana Discover GUI which allows a user to customize the log entry aggregation range?

What is the business impact, if any, if this request will not be made?

Though this RFE is only a usability request, the customer is currently testing the logging and monitoring functionality in Openshift 4 and hopes to expand their use of OCP across multiple production projects depending upon its capabilities. If we cannot focus on helping this customer make the Kibana Discover GUI more customizable, then they may not deem it a usable product for further rollout to their future production projects.

What are your expectations for this feature?

To be more user friendly and customizable

Have you done this before and/or outside of support and if yes, how?

Support was able to confirm this is not possible.

This RFE has evolved out of LOG-1473 - "Sort Kibana Log Entries by Date".
