    Description

      Today we use a relational database with a custom caching layer using Infinispan. This is causing issues with supporting rolling upgrades, cross DC, etc.

      This epic is to develop a prototype of a new storage layer together with testsuite that can be used to test ideas with respect to performance.

      Once we have a like-for-like and well tested new storage layer we will remove the old layer, with potentially a deprecation/migration period
