kcadm CLI for Kerberos Configuration Incomplete

    XMLWordPrintable

    Details

    • Steps to Reproduce:
      Hide

Attempt to follow the latest documentation to create a Kerberos user storage provider using the CLI:

      http://www.keycloak.org/docs/latest/server_admin/index.html#storage-provider-operations

Note: that the old method is documented. Also, note that the new method doesn't work will all parameters so therefore is incomplete. For example try including parameter:

      -s config.kerberosRealm=["kerberosrealm"]

      To see server error:

Uncaught server error: com.fasterxml.jackson.databind.JsonMappingException: Can not deserialize instance of java.util.ArrayList out of VALUE_STRING token

      Description

The latest documentation for adding a Kerberos user storage provider via the CLI is out-of-date. The documentation states that the following command should be used:

      kcadm.sh create user-federation/instances -r demorealm

This command results in the following error:

Resource not found for url: http://localhost:8080/auth/admin/realms/demorealm/user-federation/instances

The proper command is likely to use the newer component API with something like:

      kcadm.sh create components -r demorealm
