    Description

Log message from 'org.jboss.as.patching' logger is missing in 'server.log' file sometimes. It is logged and present in regular 'STDOUT' output, although missing from 'server.log'.

This is an intermittent issue and unfortunately I have no reproducer for it at the moment. I can see this issue only on our CI environment.

      Description of the test:
It starts and stops server with all configurations available in 'JBOSS_HOME/standalone/config/*.xml' and before and after each such iteration the 'server.log' content is checked for desired/undesired patterns. During this, we found out that log messages from 'org.jboss.as.patching' logger are missing in 'server.log' file sometimes.

      Other symptoms:

      • Other log messages from same threads (e.g. MSC service thread 1-1) are logged into both 'STDOUT' and 'server.log' successfully. Looks like this may affect nearby log messages from same threads too.
      • Happens mostly on JDK11 (any flavor) but not strictly - I can see failures on JDK8 too sometimes.
      • We've found out during the JBoss EAP 7.3.1.MPXP testing but I was able to reproduce this also with JBoss EAP 7.2.1-patched so it is not tied with MPXP release.
      • I'm not able to reproduce this on my machine locally, only in our CI environment.
      • We found out this issue with 'org.jboss.as.patching' although looks like this problem is not tied with this logger only.
