[cpp] Example build fails using CMake 2.8

From the upstream issue:

 
"The in tree Proton build use a wrapper for FindProton which allow the modern Threads::Threads usage, which is not supported directly by the version shipped with cmake 2.8.12. This wrapper is not shipped in the Proton installation so the example build fails on cmake 2.8.12."
