    Description

There is no straightforward way to enable public-key certificate authentication against the Karaf console once a fabric has been created.

The problem was first described for Fuse 6.1 in bug FABRIC-1193, but it is not clear whether any work was done. A potential workaround is described in the bug report, but it does not work with Fuse 6.2.1. An internal enhancement request was logged – JBAMQPL-60 – but this was closed without explanation. It is not clear to me whether the enhancement was for certificate-based authentication to work, or for it to be manageable via the jaas:XXX console commands.

This request is to implement some documented, tested way to enable certificate-based console authentication in Fabric8. An ability to manage it using the console would be a bonus.
