Opening a route for editing opens up a third panel in the already cramped perspective. The resulting editor view is barely wide enough to view the pallet, let alone any of the route to be edited. While a user can collapse other parts of the UI to make the editor useful, it seems rather burdensome for them to be required to do extra work when they explicitly decided they want to edit the route by there choice to open the route editor.
