CNV v4.21.0
Goal
The purpose of this diagram is for day-1 network configuration; to show what the network config looks like after default installation
See example: https://github.com/dlbewley/demo-virt/blob/new-diag/networking/diagram.md
Priority
Base diagram to be completed first.
Background
Multiple Networking diagrams were requested by Petr Horacek. We will need his help answering these questions:
- How many diagrams are needed for this use case? If multiple diagrams are needed, do all have the same priority or can some be added later?
- One or two. It may be good to have one with bonding and one without. But if we do just one, it may be sufficient for the more skilled admins
- It is closely related to the diagram requested in DIAGRAMS-511. From the two, DIAGRAMS-510 is more common / important.
- Is the documentation where the diagram should be placed already published and only the diagram is missing?
- OVN localnet documentation https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.17/networking/multiple_networks/configuring-additional-network.html#configuring-additional-network_configuration-additional-network-interface
- CNV localnet documentation https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.17/virt/vm_networking/virt-connecting-vm-to-ovn-secondary-network.html#virt-creating-layer2-nad-cli_virt-connecting-vm-to-ovn-secondary-network
- Any future UDN localnet documentation
- If the documentation is not published yet, when is the hard deadline?
- No hard deadline AFAIK.
- Are sketches available?
- [phoracek] Not that I'm aware of. But once this task becomes a priority for the team, I'm happy to help preparing one.
- Does the diagram need to be created from scratch or can we modify an existing one?
- [phoracek] The only host network topology diagram in OCP I'm aware of is https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.17/virt/vm_networking/virt-networking-overview.html
-
- Important for OpenShift Virtualization. This specific diagram is not that critical by itself, but it builds foundations for more interesting cases DIAGRAMS-511 DIAGRAMS-512 DIAGRAMS-497 DIAGRAMS-498What is the team's priority for each use case?
- The priority should be in the following order
- DIAGRAMS-510 (now CNV-59622)
- ^^^ this shows what the network config looks like after default installation
- DIAGRAMS-498
- DIAGRAMS-497
- ^^^ the two above are common scenarios and show how we want customers to build their host network for localnet
