There are various cleanups and enhancements that should be done after the VPA operator-sdk upgarde tasks https://issues.redhat.com/browse/PODAUTO-89 are merged to master.

These include:

• Creating an e2e upgrade test in the CI (context in this github comment https://github.com/openshift/release/pull/55730#issuecomment-2300046187)
• Making sure ocp-build-eng can still find our CSV and manifests (context in this Slack comment https://redhat-internal.slack.com/archives/C02F1J9UJJD/p1724118279895399?thread_ts=1724091438.243629&cid=C02F1J9UJJD)
• Re-enable unused yaml-lint Makefile target and add a check to CI (gh context link https://github.com/openshift/vertical-pod-autoscaler-operator/pull/169#discussion_r1725496754)
• Fix the golangci-lint staticcheck function deprecation in the file internal/operator/status.go (https://github.com/openshift/vertical-pod-autoscaler-operator/pull/169#issuecomment-2315861828)
• Fix anything else that may or may not break

  • There is still a build failure after fixing that
