      2. Merge devel branch into main
      1. Revert main and devel to a sane state predating the previous 1.5.3 release tentative
      2. Create a release branch
      3. Bump the version to 1.5.3 in the release branch
      4. Port relevant fixes to the release branch (KATA-2881, KATA-2894, KATA-2898, KATA-2899)
      5. Tag the release with v1.5.3
